This video has a great message about only YouTube but internet use in general. I watched this in one of my anthropology classes and the human want for a sense of community is a powerful thing that is represented here. The free hugs phenomenon is a great analogy of YouTube and how people can receive affection and praise from strangers.
I like in the beginning where he gives us all the numbers how much content in generated on youtube in comparison. His presentation is professional and adds some legitimacy and significance to the youtube phenomenon. Its nice to know that the Numa Numa craze started in new jersey. The speed at which the video was recreated by other users says a lot about or culture's desire to be part of a community. or perhaps we are all just unoriginal and craving attention.
